about

P. Munk draws inspiration from ethnic Lahore culture, plays keys on this one and samples himself playing guitars too. This track is essentially a sonic culmination of oriental sounds and textures that comes from a palette that is distinctly from this part of the world. The idea of this piece is to look at Punjab of both lands India and Pakistan as unique and whole through the imagery of a long-forgotten train that ran between Lahore and Amritsar during the dark colonial times.

Apart from his extremely average guitar playing abilities, P. Munk picks up the keys as a central instrument for the first time and draws inspiration from a range of bebop cats from the 50-60s.

He also uses the most "cheap"/unwanted Indian keyboard sounds and patches that come with MIDI keyboards that get marketed in India. The sitars on the track were found on one such keyboard patch and the resulting melody heard on the track was played on an extremely cheap MIDI keyboard.
